The Li River meanders through karsk mountains. Karsk are formed by limestone, which had been created at the bottom of the ocean, being thrust up into mountains. Weather wears away the softer limestone, but leave the hard limestone intact. The mountains tend to be rounded on top with steep sides, giving them a forbodding appearance. The river flows fairly slowly and is filled with life -- both human and animal.
